Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 championships have been achieved on hard surfaces
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his initial championship for over two years with a win over opponent Moutet in the tournament final.
The Russian, a former world number one, has had a challenging season, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and undergoing a meltdown at the American major.
Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in especial - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with long-time mentor Cervara.
Now collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually advanced in the last few weeks - peaking in a closely contested competitive win over opponent Moutet.
It is the player's first title since the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard surface from spring of the previous year.
Success also signifies Medvedev has secured twenty-one titles at 21 different tournaments.
"It's the first time I'm at a event with my two daughters simultaneously, so to get a title is especially meaningful," stated tennis professional the champion.
"This championship is in dedication of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter her name was delivered was for her."
The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six title deciders, including in Halle in the past months.
The player's counter-punching play style and frequent emotional displays on the playing surface had led some to question if his capacity to play at the elite level was concluded.
Yet the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and play positively, backed up by an better serve.
Medvedev recovered from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, winning four of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.
The pair traded breaks in the following set before the challenger, attempting for his initial tour victory, seized the initiative to push for a decider.
Moutet saved 4 initial opportunities in a competitive final set before the Russian secured a break to fifteen to secure the win.
Fittingly, Medvedev secured the title with a rally at the net, with his opponent incapable to handle a return after a lengthy match.
